On March 8, 2025, Christina Louise Durie, age 33, passed away in her home, surrounded by family after a brutal and deeply unfair 19-month-long battle with appendix cancer. Born in Detroit and raised in Clinton Township, Michigan, Christina was a force—sharp, hilarious, fiercely loyal, and unapologetically herself. She was witty and sarcastic in the best way, with a mind as brilliant as her sense of humor. She worked as an accountant at Alta Visa, where her intelligence, humor, and work ethic left a lasting mark. But Christina's truest joy was her family. She shared a deep and unwavering bond with her partner, Robert Hill, who tragically passed away on September 29, 2023. Together, they built a life that was full of laughter, love, and devotion to their children and dogs. Though their time together was heartbreakingly short, their connection was undeniable and enduring—reflected every day in their two children, Ava (12) and Isaac (19 months), whom Christina adored beyond measure. Christina is survived by them, as well as by her mother Lisa, her father Dan, and her sisters Emily, Paris, and Giovanna, her grandparents Glory-Yam(grandma) and Bob Elliott-gramps and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Christina made life lighter, funnier, and more meaningful for everyone around her. She found happiness in the little things—family game nights, decorating for every holiday, binge watching reality TV series, and making everyone laugh, usually with her signature sarcasm and impeccable timing. She also had a huge heart for animals, fostering dogs through Rebel Dog Detroit and turning her home into a sanctuary for pups in their most vulnerable moments. This loss has been unimaginably devastating for our family. Christina’s absence is felt in every room, every quiet moment, every laugh that used to be shared. The world is certainly dimmer without her in it. And yet, in the midst of our heartbreak, we’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of those around us. To our friends, neighbors, coworkers, and extended community—thank you. Your meals, donations, words of comfort, and unwavering support have carried us through some of our darkest days. We are deeply grateful. Our family has chosen to forego a traditional funeral service. Instead, we invite all who knew and loved Christina and Robert to a Celebration of Life at her home on June 21, 2025.
