09/21/1954 - 12/05/2024 from Houston, Texas USA
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Gwenith Jean Watson, who peacefully left us in her sleep on December 5, 2024. Gwen was born in Houston, TX on September 21st, 1954. Gwen is survived by her husband, Steve Watson; her daughter, Shauna Epps; her son-in-law, Michael Epps; her grandsons, Cory Nutt and Theodore and Nolan Epps; her brother, A. Weems Farrer Jr. (Bo); her sister-in-law, Vickie Farrer; her brother-in-law, Mark Watson; and all the animals she loved dearly. Gwen was preceded in death by her father, A. Weems Farrer Sr.; her mother, Marjorie Farrer; and her son, Russell Dillon. Gwen graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston, TX, in 1972. After graduation, she traveled across the United States from the East Coast to the West Coast. She began her career in the printing industry in Houston and became a talented graphic designer and artist. Gwen married David Dillon in 1979 in Houston, and together they had two wonderful children, Russell Dillon and Shauna Epps. She later worked at Amoco in Houston, showcasing her outstanding graphic skills. At Amoco, she met and married her husband, Steve Watson, on February 14, 1990. After five more years at Amoco, Gwen and Steve moved to Spicewood to enjoy the beauty of the Hill Country and Lake Travis. Gwen then returned to work for the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics, where she continued to impress with her talent as a graphic artist. She retired from UTIG in 2006 to spend more time with her furry friends. Gwen Watson was a "Beacon of Light" to all who knew her. As a dear friend, she was kind and loving, often sharing stories of her love for her family—both human and furry—and her closest friends. In the realm of canine rescue, her boundless love for dogs, especially those in need, touched countless lives. Though she was not a formal rescuer, her unwavering dedication to finding forever homes for furry companions, her infectious enthusiasm for every rescue mission, and her gentle, compassionate spirit made her a true champion for the voiceless. To many of us who loved her, Gwen was more than just a dog rescue advocate; she was a sweet friend and an inspiration to all who knew her. She saw potential in every dog, no matter their past, and her unwavering belief in their ability to find love and happiness fueled her relentless pursuit of happy endings. Her legacy lives on, not only in her loving family but also in the countless dogs that found loving homes thanks to her dedication in sharing their stories. Dear Gwen, you will continue to live in the hearts of all fortunate enough to call you a friend. Though she may be gone physically, her spirit of compassion and dedication to animal welfare will continue to inspire us to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. We will carry her memory in our hearts, forever cherishing the joy and love she brought into the lives of so many. In loving memory of Gwen Watson, a true champion for dogs and a beloved friend to many all over the globe.
